They are designed to be informative and accessible for anyone interested in running for office in their county. I want to learn how to be a better candidate was created by non-profit organization Training for America, who provide leadership and civic engagement programs at low or no cost to both Democrats and Republicans. I am addressing this letter to all of the local citizens that are interested in getting into politics and learning more about the role of a county councilor. This is just a brief outline of what it takes to be a councilor and some do's and don'ts. Do: *Be knowledgeable about the people, issues, industries, and past history of the county.* Don't: *Suppress any new ideas or input from others.* *Be biased against any particular group.* *Ignore your own personal limitations.*
